WELCOME LETTER

Ziya Kapran

Dear Colleagues,

The educational contribution of Live Surgical practices is an undeniable reality. In 2017, the Turkish Ophthalmological Association launched the first Live Surgery Symposium, where Glaucoma, Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Cornea and Ocular Surface, Oculoplastic Surgery, Strabismus and Vitreoretinal Surgery societies were represented all at once, for the first time in the world. Thus, Live Surgical symposiums became the second most important event for the Turkish Ophthalmological Association after it’s National Congress each year.

This year, our Glaucoma, Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Cornea and Ocular Surface, Oculoplastic, Strabismus and Vitreoretinal Surgery societies shall be performing surgeries between June 1-4 in 2023.

The 4 day event shall take place at the The Ministry of Health Ankara City Hospital in Ankara, the Capital City of Turkey. Each of the six societies will be performing the surgeries in four separate operating rooms simultaneously. There will also be sponsored live surgery sessions and meetings by several companies. The surgeries shall be cast to Ankara Bilkent Hotel and Congress Center, with High Resolution, enabling the participants watch the surgeries with the highest quality.

Also, during the event, participants will be offered the opportunity to train with Haag-Streit Simulators provided by the Training Center of Turkish Ophthalmological Association for free.

Our members living in the earthquake disaster zone will be able to register for the Live Surgery Symposium free of charge. For our foreign colleagues who cannot travel due to the extraordinary circumstances, four days of discounted online virtual meetings with simultaneous English translation will be available.
