Dear Colleagues,
We are planning to hold the Turkish Ophthalmological Association 55th National Congress on November 3-7, 2021 at the Sueno Hotel & Convention Center Belek in the city of Antalya, one of the pearls of our country. On behalf of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association Administrative Board and Congress Organization Committee, I am honored to invite you to this congress, the greatest scientific activity of our association.
TOA Administrative Board is monitoring closely the progression of the pandemics nationally and internationally and keeps a second plan in hand which will enable us at the first occasion to transform the congress into a virtual one in case we realize that it is not possible to organize it physically. Keeping in mind that, we will be hopeful and determined to insist until the last minute to hold our congress in a physical environment which all of us missed a lot. We all know that that our congresses are a platform where people meet each other who were missed, friendships are strengthened and information is exchanged, briefly all these reminding us that we are a huge family. We have also observed for years that these facts also depend on a bit by organizing congresses in out-of-city areas that allows our colleagues to run away from their regular workplace for a few days. We expect to have an unforgettable experience by coming together under the perfect atmosphere of Sueno Hotel & Convention Center where our congress will be held this year.
Our congress is projected to begin with the full-day Society Advanced Training Programs (BILEPs). As you already know, BILEPs holding a very special place in our scientific activities within the last five years are the programs that covers the advanced level information which we cannot always find the time to discuss inside the regular meeting formats. Panel sessions, workshops, round table meetings, interactive sessions, video sessions, oral presentations-poster activities, international young ophthalmologists’ sessions, and industry satellite symposiums will be included this year as well inside our main congress scientific program. Besides, the Skills Transfer Courses will also hold an important role in our congress as a part of practical training activities.
Another key element to lend color to this year’s congress is that lots of international speakers will contribute to the panels of our subsocieties by joining our meeting virtually.
I believe that, even in this dark era with the prevailing conditions of the Covid-19 pandemics, this congress will make history and be remembered forever by the determination of the Turkish ophthalmology to sustain the scientific development and training, the accustomed high-quality level of our congress and the quantity reached by the broad participation of yourself - our dear colleagues.

As the TOA Konya-Antalya Regional Branch, it is our great pride and pleasure to host the 55th National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious education establishments of our country.
Our congress in which ‘’KNOWLEDGE’’ guiding us in all fields of life will be discussed in all aspects, shared amongst and where our colleagues meet and socialize with each other will be held at the Sueno Hotel & Convention Center in Belek, Antalya between the dates of November 3th – 7th, 2021.
National Congresses which bring the members of our growing association together in each year are the most important education activity where achievement and skills are shared between our colleagues. As our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, ‘’Our true mentor in life is science.’’
