Davet

Invitation

Esteemed Colleagues,

As you all know, we had to adjourn our in-person educational activities since the COVID-19 pandemic took the world by storm. However, I am incredibly glad to hereby announce that we will be hosting “Virtual Skill Transfer Courses” on Optic, Refraction and Low Vision Rehabilitation, supported by the Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOA), and upholding the principle of“Continuity in Education”. Our society of Optic, Refraction and Low Vision Rehabilitation, leading the applied skill transfer courses with ORR-Esat Işık Courses, shall proudly maintain its educational activities in virtual platforms as well. Our virtual courses shall aim to equip the attendants with the projected skills in a total of 9 back-to-back rotating sessions. Each session shall last for 50 minutes and will be attended by 5 people.

Qualified trainers shall offer their knowledge on the fundamental topics of ophthalmology such as basic refraction, skiascopy, vision charts, calculation of functional vision score, refraction examination with optic devices, binocular vision examination, using prisms for diagnosis and treatment, spectacle lens properties, basic and advanced methods on low vision rehabilitation. Due to the limited number of sessions, 45 people shall be admitted to the courses on a first-come first-served basis.

It is recommended for the participants to come to the sessions having read the information notes as this would increase the efficiency of the training. You may want to check out the book by our unit, 'Optik Refraksiyon, Rehabilitasyon Temel Bilgiler' (TOD Eğitim yayınları No: 12 2010), and the video recordings of the course we hosted in March 2017 ( TOD TV ).

I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Prof. Dr. Reha Ersöz for his pioneering work in the establishment of these virtual skill courses which provided us the opportunity to host this one; to all our trainers who have helped determine our objectives and undertaken the responsibility of teaching the same topic for 9 times; and to Prof. Dr. İzzet Can, the president of TOA, and the whole administrative board of TOA.

All of our colleagues are cordially invited to the courses. I wish everyone a healthy and enjoyable learning process.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Aysun İDİL
