Abstract Submission Rules
The rules for abstract submission are regulated according to Articles 7 – 7 of the UKOK Regulations.
If the abstract author is a Turkish citizen ophthalmologist, they must be a member of TOA and must have no outstanding membership fees for the current or previous years. (For members of other medical specialties and foreign ophthalmologists, TOA membership is not required).
Abstracts will only be accepted via the website.
The first author can submit one abstract as "One oral presentation + One poster" or "Two posters." Applications that do not meet these conditions will be automatically rejected by the abstract submission system. Case presentations involving a single case can only be submitted as a poster. The oral presentation time, including video presentation, will be 5 minutes.
Posters will be presented as e-posters and should be prepared in the online system. They do not need to be created using programs like Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.
Abstracts and Congress Awards: Nomination for awards such as “Best Research,” “Best Poster,” “Best Video,” and “Best Medical Photo” can be made by checking the relevant box in the abstract submission form on the website. The nomination will be finalized after the evaluation committee accepts the work.
How to Submit an Abstract via the Website
Abstracts will be submitted through the link available on the congress website (www.todnet.org). Applications via email, written form, fax, floppy disk, or other methods will not be accepted. Only the first authors are authorized to submit abstracts. To do so, the abstract authors must know their TOA ID Number and Web password. Our members can access this information by logging into the Member Information Database on www.todnet.org and filling out the relevant form or by sending a message directly to webmaster@todnet.org
The same rules apply to abstract authors who are not TOA members. These individuals will be provided with a temporary ID Number and Password valid only during the congress. To obtain this, they must fill out the membership form on the congress website (www.todnet.org). Those who complete the form on behalf of others must know the TOA ID Number and Web Password of these individuals.
The first author(s) of abstracts are entitled to submit "1 oral presentation + 1 poster" or a total of "2 posters." The rules for filling out the abstract submission form are detailed on the relevant webpage.
In order to avoid difficulties, read these rules very carefully and especially consider the below matters
Evaluation of Abstracts
Abstracts will be sent to the Evaluation Committee members, consisting of the relevant Unit (s) Head, Unit Secretary, and Unit Education Representative, after the classification by UKOK. The authors' names and the location of the study will be hidden. This will be done through the online system.
The Evaluation Committee members will indicate their decisions by marking the form they receive in the virtual environment. Abstracts will be evaluated as "accepted-rejected" and "oral-poster-video-medical photo." The Evaluation Committees have the authority to change the presentation preference. According to the committee's preference, first authors may present two oral presentations.
Case presentations involving a single case (except for those requiring specific video presentations) can only be accepted as a poster and cannot be converted into an oral presentation. If there is a suspicion that an abstract is not an original work or has been plagiarized, the committee may request additional evidence from the authors to clarify the situation.
